Three Kings – Marble Tile Coaster

Jíbaro in collaboration with Samuel Rios Cuevas brings you a unique and authentic art piece in our newest tile depicting the Three Kings.

Samuel, a jíbaro born and raised in Añasco, is known for his hand carved and hand printed artwork of many of Borinquen (Puerto Rican) popular themes like: Taíno Art, Vejigante Mask, Jibaro, Coquí Frog, Old San Juan, El Yunque, El Morro, Los Reyes Magos (Three Kings) and Bomba y Plena. After serving in the Navy for 4 years, living and traveling to Japan, Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore, Guam, South Korea he came back to Puerto Rico to complete his Masters in Business Administration (MBA) and continue his career as an artist.

Today, his art is created in his studio in Añasco, Puerto Rico. Currently he is working on a ongoing series called  “Carving the Puerto Rican Identity” were he explores through printmaking Puerto Rico’s culture, customs and history.

Each artwork is carefully created by carving on to a 3/4 PVC panel, using traditional woodcut, linocut printmaking techniques and experimental methods. They are hand printed in succession on paper, numbered, titled, and signed. Each print is unique and distinctive, with small variation due to the inking and printing process.

Our tiles can be displayed as decorative pieces of art in your home or function as drink coasters. We sell easels to proudly display your tiles, while the cork backing keeps the tile from sliding when used as a drink coaster.

The tiles are made of tumbled Botticino marble and are mainly sourced from a quarry in Verona, Italy. Easel sold separately.
